New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has arrived in Fiji for her historic first visit to the country.

Upon her arrival at the Nadi International Airport, she was greeted by Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa and Fiji’s Ambassador to New Zealand, Filimone Waqabaca while Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Minister for Foreign Affairs Inia Seruiratu, Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar, Police Commissioner, Sitiveni Qiliho and Army Commander Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto greeted Ardern at the Nausori Airport.

Ardern was also accorded a 100 men Guard of Honour at the Nausori Airport last night.

The traditional welcome ceremony for Ardern will be held at 9.30 this morning at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

She will then pay a courtesy call to President Jioji Konrote at 10.45am.

Ardern is expected to participate in a tree planting ceremony there before taking part in a wreath laying ceremony at the National War Memorial at 11.30 this morning.

The New Zealand Prime Minister will meet her Fijian counterpart, Voreqe Bainimarama at midday today for a bilateral meeting after which they are expected to hold a press conference at 12.45pm.

Ardern is also expected to meet the Opposition Members of Parliament.

Her final engagement for today will be the State Dinner at GPH.
