New Nurses Decree approved

New Nurses Decree approved
Cabinet has now approved a new Nurses Decree which will see some major changes.

Health Minister Doctor Neil Sharma made the submission and said an Annual Practicing License will be required for every registered nurse who engages in the practice of nursing in Fiji.

He said the decree endorses the formation of a Professional Conduct Committee whose membership will be appointed by the Minister for a term of three years.

Doctor Sharma said the decree will repeal the current Nurses Midwives and Nurses Practitioners Act and will regulate the nursing practice and provide the registration and licensing of nurses, nurse specialists and nurse practitioners.

The Nurses, Midwives and Nurse Practitioners Board will also become the Fiji Nursing Council.
