Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar has confirmed that Laqere Market in Nasinu will be opened by the Prime Minister next Wednesday.

She says the market was scheduled to be opened just after Easter however due to COVID-19 related social distancing measures and the Suva Lockdown, they could not open the market.

Kumar adds that they wanted to do a stall lottery to avoid any dispute between vendors regarding the location of the stalls however this cannot be done now.

The new market will have 428 stalls.
