New Church president expected to be elected this morning
A new president of the Methodist Church is expected to be elected this morning at the start of the annual Methodist Church conference.

Assistant general secretary Reverend Tevita Nawadra said 300 ordained ministers will contest the position in a secret ballot voting.

Nawadra said other issues on the agenda will be the increase in church levy and the better utilization of church properties such as land and buildings to generate income for the church.

Nawadra added discussions will also centre on the review of the Methodist Church constitution.

More than 800 delegates are expected to gather at the Centenary Church for the three day meeting.

Reverend Ame Tugaue will officially open and also chair the conference.
