New Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO Stefan Pichler wants to take Fiji Airways to another level and make sure that more locals are employed.
Pichler said that he will make sure locals are trained well to take up various management positions.
Pichler added that Fiji Airways plays an important role in Fiji’s economy especially in the tourism industry.
He said statistics at a trade conference revealed that direct and indirect jobs in Fiji’s tourism industry added up to the total contribution of 38% of GDP.
Meanwhile, 80 people have been shortlisted for the recruitment of cabin crew from the more than 1,600 applications that were received.
