Neighbour allegedly sets house on fire in Nadi after annoyed by loud noise

An incident between two neighbours has led to a case of alleged arson.

The incident occurred yesterday after 7am at Sikituru Village in Nadi where it is alleged a 21-year-old farmer set fire to a home belonging to a 25-year-old plumber.

Police say the house was partly destroyed and when questioned the suspect claimed he set fire to the house because he could not tolerate the noise coming from the victim's home.

The suspect was questioned and released as investigations continue.

Police Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu says they understand that everybody will be celebrating Christmas in their own way and while doing so they need to be mindful of others so as not to disturb their peace.
