Residents of Batiri, Muanidevo and nearby areas in Dreketi have raised their issues such as the need for better electricity services, water supply, school infrastructure, a mortuary in Dreketi, improved farm market access, farm access roads and youth migration to Viti Levu and abroad for better opportunities.

These were raised with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad during the National Development Plan consultations in Dreketi.

Batiri village Turaga-ni-koro Viliame Bulilevu stated that the village road which used to be tarsealed and linked to the freeway has been neglected for many years and the condition has deteriorated.

Professor Prasad says he has memories linked to this road and that the road will be fixed as soon as possible

He also reiterated the importance of the consultation and the purpose of the visit and stated the team was there to seek feedback on how best the Coalition government might be guided in developing its New National Development Plan and how the government might be directed to address this issue.
