TISI Sangam President Sadasivan Naicker says Navtratri prayers commenced last night at their temples with strict protocols in place and devotees also took personal responsibility to ensure they are safe.

TISI Sangam has 19 temples around the country.

Naicker says this year’s celebration does not include dancing and singing which used to be a major feature of Navtrati festival.

He says they are continuing to educate the devotees on the protocols and consequences of not following them.

Hindus worship and celebrate the nine forms of Goddess Durga during Navtratri. They observe fast, pray and dress according to specific colours associated with each of the nine days.
