National memorial service to be held for Mandela today
A national memorial service will be held today for the late former South African President, Nelson Mandela at the Centenary Church.

A statement from the church confirmed that they are grateful to provide a venue for the memorial service following a request from the South African High Commission.

President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau will speak at the service, along with representatives of the diplomatic corps and other invited speakers.

The sermon will be preached by Methodist Church President Rev. Dr. Tuikilakila Waqairatu.

The service begins at 12.30 this afternoon.

Meanwhile Nelson Mandela's body has been laid to rest in a family plot, after political and religious leaders paid tribute to South Africa's former president at a state funeral service.

Mandela died at the age of 95.

Last night youth groups from around Suva held a candle light vigil outside the South African High Commission for Nelson Mandela.

Youth Champs 4 Mental Health Vice President Lionel Rogers said the vigil is one of reflection for a world leader who is a powerful inspiration to millions of people.
