The National Register of Voters has been unveiled today by the Attorney General and Minister for Elections Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum with 540,164 registered voters on the roll for the 2014 elections.
Sayed-Khaiyum said members of the public can now check their names and verify the roll starting this Thursday.
The copies of the National Register of Voters has been given to the three political parties including Social Democratic and Liberal Party, the Fiji Labour Party and the People’s Democratic Party.
The National Federation Party will get a copy soon.
The staff from the Elections Office will be out in various locations soon.
The Attorney General confirmed that 40 copies of the Roll have been printed which cost the Elections Office $180,000.
Meanwhile, Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry confirmed that they have received a copy of the National Register.
He said they have been asking for the register to be made public and he hopes they are readily available for the people.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the National Register will be available at a number of locations around the Central, Eastern, Western and Northern divisions from this Thursday.
He urged all registered voters to check their details.
