The National Disaster Management Office is now focusing on relief and recovery operations.

NDMO Director Anare Leweniqila says the Divisional Commissioners and the Ministry of Health are currently working together to serve the evacuees.

There were 2,100 people sheltering in 40 evacuation centres around the country yesterday.

He says that they have received the initial damage assessments from the Fiji Roads Authority, Water Authority of Fiji and Energy Fiji Limited, with all reporting minimal damage.

He says the Commissioner Northern has confirmed that he could have his initial damage assessment report ready by midday today.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama has also stressed that all schools used as evacuation centers will have to be cleared, cleaned and ready for use at the start of the school year.
