A Naivikinikini woman is calling on people to get vaccinated and not to be frightened of different videos that they see on social media.

Frances Qounadovu says the majority of the women in Naivikinikini in Lami had a lot of reservations on whether to get vaccinated because of the videos they watched on different social media platforms.

She believes that there is a lot of information out there now that will enlighten them and take away the doubts that people have.

Qounadovu says she will get vaccinated and encourages others to do the same.

The mother of three says she will be getting vaccinated this Friday when the vaccination team will be in Naivikinikini.

Meanwhile, the women of Naivikinikini have stepped up to play a vital role in combating COVID-19 by manning checkpoints in the day.

Qounadovu says they have decided to do this is to protect their community as there is a growing number of cases in the greater Lami area.

Qounadovu says they have four checkpoints which is manned by women in the day and men in the night.

She says they have stopped all visitors from entering their community.

Qounadovu says they have received some assistance from DIVA for Equality, Sai Prema Foundation, Mama Ashy Projects, Youth Champs for Mental Health, Solo Moms Project and the Lami District Council of Social Services who gave them groceries, masks and sanitizers.

She says they do realize that they play a major role in their community and that is why they are waiting for the Ministry of Health’s vaccination team to get vaccinated.
