Naitasiri faces Tailevu in Skipper Cup semi-final

It will be a battle of the FIJI Water Flying Fijians half-backs as Naitasiri face Tailevu in this weekend’s Skipper Cup semi-finals, with Naitasiri’s, Philip Baselala, looking to outclass his mentor, Simione Kuruvoli.

Both players were in superb form last week, guiding their sides to victory in the quarterfinals.

Baselala, who hails from Kadavu, led his Naitasiri teammates with composure to overcome Ba 32-18, while fellow Kadavu native Kuruvoli controlled the tempo for Tailevu in their 39-18 win over Lautoka.

The Kadavu duo, both named in the Flying Fijians squad for the European Tour, are using the Skipper Cup as valuable preparation for the northern campaign, ensuring they stay sharp with quality game time.

Meanwhile, Naitasiri is the only team from the top four to reach the semi finals.

The second semi final will see underdogs Malolo taking on Nadi.

The venue for the games has not been confirmed yet.
