The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side has won the HSBC Singapore 7s after beating Kenya 21-12 in the final thanks to a double by speedster Vuiviawa Naduvalo.

This is the second time these two sides are meeting in the Singapore 7s final, the last time in 2016 where Kenya bested the Osea Kolinisau captained side 30-7 to win their first tournament.

Kenya scored first through Nygel Amaitsa setting a record of going through the tournament with no side scoring against them in the first half to lead 7-0 at half time.

Fiji struck quickly in the second half through speed merchant Naduvalo with his first touch of the ball from a Joseva Talacolo offload.

He scored his second from the base of their scrum as he side stepped the defence and put on the gas to score under the sticks to put Fiji in the lead at 14-7.

Alusio Vakadranu scored their other try to further extend the lead to 21-7 before Kenya struck back through William Mwanji.

The Fiji team then had to defend their line as Kenya went on the attack fending off each wave as it came.

Skipper Sevuloni Mocenacagi was shown a yellow card in the first half after a fend to a Kenyan player was ruled dangerous by the TMO.

Naduvalo won the player of the final award and received his prize from All Blacks legend Dan Carter.

Fiji will now turn their focus to the LA 7s from the 3rd-4th May.
