The Nadi Weather office has upgraded their Tropical cyclone alert to a Tropical Cyclone warning in the last few minutes.
Director National Weather Office, Rajendra Prasad said that the Depression developed overnight and is now asking the public to start stocking up and prepare for rain and strong winds as the system is likely to developed into a tropical cyclone.
Prasad said that with the upgrading, people should now brace themselves for heavy rain, strong winds and flash flooding.
The Nadi Weather Office said that there will be strong winds, heavy rain with very rough seas and is now calling on people to remain at home as a warning is given out 24 hours before any Tropical Cyclone hits.
People of Vanua Levu are being asked to take the extra precaution now as the Tropical Cyclone - if it develops - is expected to hit Vanua Levu first.
