Nadi town is now closed
Nadi Special Administration, Robin Ali said he had a meeting with the police and no one will be allowed into the town area.

Nadi river has burst its banks in some areas.

Fijivillage advises people living in the Nadi area to act now and take necessary precautions.

Nadi Chamber of Commerce President Dr. Ram Raju who is in Nadi town says people and especially businesses have taken all the necessary precautions as flood waters have reached the bus stand and market area.

A Nadi resident Sikeli who is currently in Namaka said a lot of people are in town and they are finding it difficult to get home due to transportation problems.


Police are now clearing Nadi town and telling people to go home.

About 20 police officers are on the ground in vehicles and boats ready to assist people.

Station Officer Nadi, Apete Rokolui said about ten families are already taking shelter at the Saint Andrews Primary School. 

Police are also accompanying DISMAC officials to visit evacuation centers. 

He added that they are monitoring Namotomoto and Qaleloa areas as heavy rain continues.
