Nadawa residents raise concerns over dumped rubbish bins, causing foul stench

Residents of Nadawa are raising serious concerns about large bins full of rubbish that residents claimed was dumped in their area by the Nasinu Town Council, causing a foul smell and an unhealthy environment.

A video circulating on social media shows a frustrated resident calling on Acting CEO Felix Magnus and all Nasinu Town Council personnel to step out of their offices and witness firsthand the challenges taxpayers are facing.

The man in the video expresses anger over the state of the area, saying the dumped rubbish is creating unbearable conditions for those living nearby.

He questions why waste is being left in their neighbourhood instead of being properly collected and disposed of.

Residents say the stench has worsened over the past few days, and they fear it could lead to health hazards if not addressed urgently.

Responding to questions from fijivillage News, Nasinu Town Council Acting CEO Felix Magnus said one of their main concerns is the proper containment of waste and garbage.

Magnus says their enforcement officers have addressed the issue by issuing strict warnings and removing the bins from the vacant area.

He adds that their team will continue to monitor the situation to prevent further illegal dumping in the area.
