Nabuta, Kaitani and Kanatabua make their first appearance before Justice Temo

Suspended radio announcer Paula Nabuta, 21-year-old student Joji Kaitani and 28-year-old Viliame Kanatabua who are charged with being in possession of illicit drugs appeared before High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo today.

Nabuta is separately charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs for allegedly possessing 6.342 kilograms of marijuana on the 28th of September.

Nabuta, Kaitani and Kanatabua have been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

They were allegedly found with 912 grams of marijuana on the 28th of September.

It is alleged that the three were taken into custody after Police raided the car that Nabuta was driving.

It is also alleged several parcels of dried leaves believed to be marijuana were seized from the vehicle.

A further search at Nabuta’s home led to the discovery of more parcels of marijuana.

The Prosecution has sought time to file information in the case.

Bail has been extended for the three men who are represented by lawyer Litia Vateitei of Astas Law.

The case will be called again on 2nd November 2021.
