The National Fire Authority is now investigating the cause of the fire that destroyed J Santaram Supermarket Bulk store at Robertson Road, Suva.
The fire also destroyed the top floor of Lotus Garment's three‑storey building.
Chief Fire Officer Qionilau Moceitai reiterated that businesses must be mindful of fire safety at all times especially as we head into the busy festive season.
Moceitai says that a little spark can trigger a large fire and therefore it is important for business owners to check their business and most importantly businesses should follow good housekeeping practices to avoid a fire from happening.
Meanwhile at least 53 J Santaram supermarket workers are now facing uncertainty while more than 90 workers of Lotus Garments Manufacturing could be affected.
