The National Fire Authority is focusing on stepping up its awareness campaign via the Community Fire Wardens program and its awareness efforts after four homes were destroyed by fire in the first 10 days of 2024.

NFA says as part of this, the Community Fire Wardens program is designed for communities outside its fire boundaries.

They say under the program, selected residents in a village or settlement are chosen to undergo training and learn the basic fundamental of fire safety and first aid.

They add that the wardens are responsible for fire safety in their communities, with periodic from the nearest fire station for refresher training.

The NFA uses house-to-house, community and school awareness modes to spread its fire safety messages.

Meanwhile, a 9-bedroom 2 flat wooden house was destroyed by fire at Namudri, Sarava in Ba this morning in a latest fire incident.
