The National Fire Authority has called on school managements to ensure that they keep fire safety equipments in schools to avoid fire incidents.
The call came after two primary schools Lautoka Muslim Primary and Votualevu Public School in the Western Division were damaged in two fire incidents during the week.
Divisional Fire Officer Western, Isoa Makutu said damages at the fire incident yesterday at Votualevu Public School in Nadi, would have been minimal if the proper authorities had been alerted earlier.
Members of the Votualevu Public School management are having an emergency meeting with the Education Ministry officials to decide where the 200 students will sit their exams next week.
Management president, Dhirendra Nath said in the meeting they are looking at options so that students studies are not affected from next week.
All examination papers prepared for annual examination for the school have been destroyed in the fire after three classrooms, school office and staff room was razed to the ground yesterday.
National Fire Authority and Police are still trying to determine the cause of fire at Votualevu High School and Lautoka Muslim Primary School early Tuesday morning.
