Fijians will not be able to register under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Programme and the New Zealand Recognised Seasonal Employer Work Scheme as new registrations have been temporarily suspended for the next 7 months.

The National Employment Centre says they have to clear a backlog of about 30,000 applications already with the Centre.

The Ministry of Employment says the temporary suspension of the registration will begin from the 1st of January to the 31st of July, 2024.

They say during this period, the National Employment Centre will facilitate the updating of backlog manual registrations including sorting and cleansing as well as the transfer of manual registration into the In-Country Recruitment Database which will improve and enhance the efficiency of NEC services.
