Motorists raise concerns about road works being done during peak traffic times

Motorists are raising concerns about road works being done by Fiji Roads Authority contractors during peak traffic times in the morning along Princes Road.

Some who live along Tamavua left their homes at around 6 this morning and are still stuck in traffic.

In one hour, some motorists have only moved about 500 metres.

Three diggers and machines have also taken up the lane at different locations and this has added on to the traffic jam.

About one-third of the road near the Tacirua bus garage is closed due to the road works and the traffic management is chaotic.

Questions are being raised on why the road works could not start after peak traffic time or whether work can be done at night.

They are also raising concern that the traffic management by the road contractor is not satisfactory and Police traffic officers should be used as they know how to control the flow of traffic.

We have sent questions to the Fiji Roads Authority.
