Motorists raise concerns about contractors carrying out maintenance along Kings Highway

Motorists have raised serious concerns this morning that road contractors are carrying out maintenance work along Kings Highway in front of World Harvest Centre in Kinoya.

This is happening despite the assurance by the Fiji Roads Authority to the people of Fiji that no roadworks will be done from 6am to 9.30am and from 4pm to 6pm from last Friday.

This was an instruction by the Fiji Roads Authority to all its sub-contractors.

FRA Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore had said that this instruction was earlier given to the sub-contractors however they had not followed it.

When we had asked whether this would be monitored, he had said that FRA workers will be on the ground to ensure that the sub-contractors are not working on the roads during peak traffic times.

A motorist said that a machine is on one of the lanes and it has caused a huge traffic jam.

We have contacted FRA. They will comment soon.
