Mothers in Age Care Homes need to reunited with families - Akbar
Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar with a senior citizen.

As the nation is celebrating Mothers Day, Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation has strongly advocated that the mothers in the three state Age Care Homes need to be reunited with their families.

Speaking at a special Mother’s Day lunch at the New Peking Restaurant, Akbar says there are only 72 mothers in the Age Care Homes and she knows there are sons, daughters and relatives who are aware of their responsibilities.

Akbar says one should always love and respect their mother.

She says they will continue to look after the elderly women who have been left by their families.

The Minister has also thanked thousands of families around Fiji who are taking care of their mothers and are respecting them.

16 women from the Samabula Old Peoples Home received new dresses and were hosted lunch at the New Peking Restaurant. This was organised by the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.

Meanwhile, the Ministry and Professional Printers Limited today also gave a Mothers Day gift to all 72 women who live in various Age Care Homes around the country.
