Mother remanded in custody for allegedly raping 9-year-old daughter

The 45-year-old woman who is charged with allegedly raping her 9-year-old daughter has been remanded in custody.

The woman was produced in the Savusavu Magistrates Court yesterday, charged with three counts of rape and a fourth count of sexual assault.

The case has been transferred to the High Court and will be called again on the 6th of next month.

The alleged incident occurred on three different occasions during the months of December 2023 and January 2024 at their home.

After the third incident, the victim sought help from a taxi driver who took her to the Savusavu Police Station, where the matter was reported.
