If you live in Nausori, Nasinu and Suva you should store water now as the Water Authority of Fiji says it may have no choice but to switch-off the standby generator set powering the raw water pump station at Waila to prevent damages during severe flooding along the Waimanu River.

WAF says switching the raw water pump station generator off will, of course, be a last resort, but people should be prepared if the situations will worsen.

The Waila Water Pump Station draws water from the Waimanu River and pumps it to the Waila Water Treatment Plant and if there is a need, WAF will have to switch off the Genset.

WAF adds, as a result, the entire Wainibuku water supply system will be impacted, and people living in the following areas may experience interruptions to their water supply.

The Authority further says ground teams will also be carrying out valve operations during peak hours.

This means that some people may experience water disruptions as WAF ground teams balance the system to ensure that reservoirs levels are at their highest levels should major flooding effect the Wainibuku water supply system.
