More than 9,000 students have been assisted with school bags and a full set of school stationery through the assistance from the Ministry of Education.

Minister for Education Rosy Akbar says this assistance is through their donors and partners who have given their support towards the education of our children. Akbar says they are still awaiting clearance from the Health Ministry on when it is safe to be back in classrooms as classrooms will need to be disinfected before it is safe for students.

She says 17 schools in the Northern Division were affected by Tropical Cyclone Ana.

Schools in the Northern Division are closed until further notice.
