More than 600,000 people have died from COVID-19 around the world and nearly a quarter of them were in the US.

The World Health Organisation says the world has seen the largest single-day increase in cases.

The number of new cases of coronavirus rose by almost 260,000 in 24 hours.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the global number of infections now stands at 14.3 million.
