More strong running and good aerial battle needed – Baber
Amenoni Nasilasila

Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Gareth Baber has commended the work of his forwards against Samoa last night but believes they need to be more structured in their attack.

The national side thumped Samoa 31-5 in their first pool match.

Fiji won three restarts in a row with Mesulame Kunavula winning two and Jasa Veremalua regaining one from their kick off as both players showed their brilliant aerial skills.

Baber says they will need to put more pressure during kick-off as they prepare to meet Russia and New Zealand later today.

Baber was impressed with Eroni Sau’s strong running and is looking forward to see more from the Drua winger.

Meanwhile, playmaker Amenoni Nasilasila continued to display his impressive skills after scoring Fiji’s first try and setting up another for Alosio Naduva.

Fiji will take on Russia in their second pool match at 5.09pm today before taking on New Zealand at 8.42 tonight.

The quarterfinals will start at 12.28pm tomorrow, the semifinals are at 6.36pm while the final will kick off at 9.48pm tomorrow.

South Africa is the defending champion of the Sydney 7s.
