More than 40 selected Fijian workers have departed for Australia and New Zealand for employment opportunities.

12 workers will be deployed to New Zealand under the Recognised Seasonal Employer Work Scheme for 7 months with the employer, Punchbowl Limited in South Auckland while 30 workers will be deployed to Australia under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Scheme.

Assistant Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Alvick Maharaj reminded the workers of their responsibilities and expected behaviour as Fiji’s representatives.

Maharaj urged the workers to showcase their talents, knowledge, skills, and attitude alongside workers from nine other countries across the Pacific for employment opportunities for other potential Fijians wishing to be part of the scheme soon.

He also thanked the Australian and New Zealand governments for their support.
