The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation is encouraging all social welfare recipients to get vaccinated for COVID-19 and protect themselves and their loved ones.

It says getting vaccinated helps protect the recipients and staff from getting seriously ill.

The Ministry says it protects their families, friends, and community members as well adding the COVID-19 vaccine is safe, effective, and is available at vaccination sites across the country.

Meanwhile, $145 million has been allocated for the continuation of social welfare assistance, including the poverty benefit scheme, social pension scheme, disability allowance, child protection allowance, food voucher for rural pregnant mothers, bus fare for elderly and disabled persons.
