Minister for Forestry Hon. Osea Naiqamu visits Navakuru village, Cakaudrove.

Good news for the Wasavulu Village Women’s Group in Labasa as the Ministry for Forestry will be purchasing seedlings from their community-based nurseries for their 30 Million Trees in 15 Years initiative.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Forestry, Osea Naiqamu during his 30 Million Trees in 15 Years consultation tour at Vatulovona village in Vanua Levu.

The Minister says this women’s group have paved the way for the Northern division after seeing their community-based nurseries where they have sown 20,000 seedlings.

Naiqamu says this will economically empower them as the Ministry will purchase these seedlings as the initiative progresses.

He adds the future generations will judge us if we fail in our efforts to make a change and people have the responsibility to hand over a healthy planet to those that will inherit the earth after we pass on.

The Ministry for Forestry has planted over 1.9 million trees and mangroves for their 30 Million Trees in 15 Years initiative.
