Ministry of Employment warns against imposters

Fijians must verify the identity of anyone claiming to be a Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations staff after an individual claimed to be a Labour Officer and threatened a shop owner for cash.

Permanent Secretary Maritino Nemani says all Ministry Compliance and Enforcement officers are issued with staff and name cards for identification purposes and members of the public can ask for their identification card for verification.

He also emphasized that as part of the Ministry’s cashless policy, all payments are being made using electronic fund transfer or internet banking to uphold transparency, accountability and prevent bribery or corruption risks among ministry officers.

For any clarifications, members of the public can contact the Director of Labour Standards and Compliance Service, Atish Kumar on 9906 369.
