Ministry of Education to soon regulate kindergarten school fees
The Ministry of Education will soon be regulating the school fees charged by kindergartens.

Fijivillage raised the issue after calls from parents that fees charged by kindergartens range from $100 to $200 per term.

Permanent Secretary Dr Brij Lal said they do not control the amount of fees charged by kindergartens in Fiji but only the approval of the establishment of kindergartens, employment of the teachers and recently they have started paying the salaries of the teachers.

Dr Lal said the reason why they never controlled the fees was because kindergartens started off as a private business.

He said now they are looking at controlling the fees charged by kindergartens.
