Ministry looks at draft village by laws

The Ministry of Itaukei Affairs confirms that they will relook at the draft village by laws which are likely to come into effect next year.

However it has been stressed that everyone’s rights will be taken into consideration before the final decision is made.

Permanent Secretary for ITaukei Affairs Savenaca Kaunisela confirmed to Fijivillage that the Ministry is still in the process of amending the draft.

Kaunisela said one of the main areas of the village by laws is the dress code.

He added there are other aspects of life which they will take into consideration before the village by laws are implemented.

Kaunisela said all village by laws will only apply within the village boundaries.
