Good news for teachers who want to teach in special schools as the Ministry of Education has started to provide the National Toppers Award to interested teachers.

Minister for Education Rosy Akbar says they understand that most of the teachers in special schools do not have the training to deal with the needs of the students.

She says teachers’ role in special schools are different from a normal classroom teacher and this is why proper training is needed.

The Minister adds she has visited special schools in the country and the children they meet have different abilities but each one is special.

Akbar says they will continue with the educational grant given to special schools to ensure children are taken care of.

The Ministry of Education has been allocated $450.6 million for this financial year.
