The Wages Council is now working towards setting up a National Minimum Wage Rate.
Council Chairman Father Kevin Barr had confirmed this is one of the main priorities of the council considering the increasing cost of living and inconsistent pay increments for most of the people in Fiji.
Father Barr also stressed that some employers are refusing to increase their workers pay after generating huge amounts of profits through increased productivity.
The Fiji Employers Federation (FEF) is expected to comment in the next hour.
