Kiara Abigail Miller has become the first woman from Fiji to pass out from the US Marine Corps.

Miller left Fiji for the United States when she was only a year old.

She says she is thankful to her parents for all their prayers and unwavering support and has acknowledged her family in Fiji, New Zealand and Australia for their heartfelt messages.

The family says in a jubilant celebration transcending borders and generations, they along with the close family members proudly hoisted the Fiji flag high to commemorate Miller’s success.

They say Miller is the eldest of two siblings and this propelled her through the demanding challenges of Marine Corps training, where she confronted extremes of both heat and cold.

She is from Navunisole in Tailevu, with maternal roots tracing to Drekeniwai in Cakaudrove.

On December 6th, Miller received the US Eagle, symbolising the core values of the United States Marines.
