The Methodist Church pastor who is currently under investigation by Police for allegedly sexually assaulting 14 young boys has been relieved from his duties as an ordained minister.

Church Secretary for Communications, Reverend Wilfred Regunamada says the pastor is not suspended yet.

This pastor cannot preach, conduct holy communion and is also not getting paid.

He says they are also concerned about the welfare of the boys that were the alleged victims.

Rev Regunamada says the process the church follows to deal with this issue, is working with the authorities.

He adds they will only decide to suspend the pastor when Police have proven that he is guilty of the crime.

Rev. Regunamada says they respect the man as a minister of their faith and he is innocent until proven guilty.

Meanwhile, Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirms the matter is being investigated by Levuka Police.

It is alleged the pastor committed the offence between 2018 and this year.
