Methodist Church distances itself from Kanailagi’s comments

The Methodist Church of Fiji has distanced itself from the statement made by former President of the Church, Reverend Tomasi Kanailagi where he said in a sermon during the Methodist Church Conference that people should put God First and not Fiji First.

Kanailagi also told church members attending the service at Furnival Park in Toorak that Fiji should be a Christian State.

He made similar comments while launching the Social Democratic Liberal Party manifesto last month.

Meanwhile Methodist Church Secretary of Communications, Reverend James Bhagwan said the statement made by Reverend Tomasi Kanailagi is not a statement of the church.
