Methodist Church Will Not Support Charter

The Methodist Church of Fiji remains firm in its stance not to support the People's Charter.

This follows the call made by the Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama to former Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase and the executives of the Church to come on board and to move the country forward.

Bainimarama has stated if people continue to oppose the interim government's initiatives, the elections will be delayed.

However, Reverend Waqairatu said the charter is a child of a coup and they do not support it.

Waqairatu reiterates that the only way forward now is general elections as soon as possible.

The Methodist Church Standing Committee will meet this week to discuss their position on the High Court Judgment in favour of the Interim Prime Minister and others.
