The Melbourne Rebels proved too powerful for the NSW Waratahs with a thumping 33-14 victory at home in the Super Rugby Australia last night.

Rebels playmaker Matt Toomua was all class as he steered his team to their biggest ever victory over the Waratahs, who remain winless in the competition after five rounds.

The only disappointment for the Rebels is that they failed to secure a bonus point, with the Waratahs crossing twice in the final three minutes.

The Rebels crossed over with three tries from Toomua, Lachie Anderson and Jordan Uelese.

The Waratahs first try came from Jeremy Williams in the 77th minute while winger Jack Maddocks crossed over after the final siren rang.

Meanwhile, the Reds will take on the Western Force at 8.45 tonight.
