The application for a permit to have the meeting of the Fiji Media Council tomorrow has been rejected.
Permanent Secretary for Information Lieutenant Colonel Neumi Leweni said the permit had to be rejected due to the Public Emergency Regulation.
Lieutenant Colonel Leweni stressed that any meetings in relation to media issues need a permit.
The Media Council has only stated this afternoon that the meeting scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled because the application by the council to hold a meeting has been rejected.
The Media Council had earlier tried to meet with Commodore Bainimarama in relation to the Public Emergency Regulation and the censorship of new items.
