Our water problems escalate this morning with more people to face water cuts as mechanical problems have developed at the Wainibuku Water Pump.

This is the advice from Water Department Central Eastern Spokesperson, Maika Nagalu.
Meanwhile, Nagalu said water tanks will be placed in areas still experiencing water cuts while water trucks will be carting water to the affected areas and will be filling these tanks for people.
Repairs on the burst pipe at the Laqere Bridge will take 3-4 weeks.
Meanwhile, interim Education Minister Filipe Bole said access to clean drinking water is a basic right for every student in the country and children need to be encouraged to bring bottled water to school if the need arises.
He said it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure classes are not disrupted and children have access to clean drinking water.
Villagers of Naikawaga, Namara, Tailevu are hoping they will no longer be associated with the other villages in their tikina's with the lack of proper water supply.
Village Headman Aminio Rakata said the 170 people in the village currently depend on rain water and a small bore hole which is not big enough to cater for everyone.
He added they have set aside a day to get villagers together to fundraise for a bigger bore hole and new tanks.
Rakata said they will need close to $100,000 to cover the cost of the project, and in yesterday's Naikawaga Water Day they managed to raise $30,000, with the hope of getting help from other donors to fast track work.
Interim Fijian Affairs Minister Ratu Epeli Nailatikau officially opened the fundraising day.
