The Mataqali Nabaramai of Waiqanake Village, Rewa has approved the sale of a piece of their land for the Water Authority of Fiji to build a dam on, which will benefit thousands of people.

Water Authority of Fiji CEO Opetai Ravai said the 8,000 square meters of land where the dam will be situated will supply 4.2 megaliters of water per day, which will benefit the whole of Kalekana, and extend as far as the Naval Base at Kalokolevu.

Ravai said today they paid the Mataqali trustee the first payment of $161,250, and the remaining balance of $53,750 will be paid once the survey is completed and the survey plans approved.

The spokesperson of the Trustee Taniela Vueti said they are very happy with the compensation being paid to them which will be used to benefit the Mataqali Nabaramai.
