Managers of Aged Care Homes are meeting today to plan how to prepare better when responding and recovering from natural disasters.

Fiji has eight Aged Care facilities.

Director Social Welfare Rupeni Fatiaki says today’s consultation is the first of its kind in Fiji.

He says quite often our elders are victims of lack of coordination.

According to the Fiji Census in 2017, Fijians aged 60+ comprise 10.6% of the total population which is 80,483 older Fijians.
