Man whose family perished in fire remains in police custody
A 48-year-old man whose family members perished in the house fire in Nanuku Settlement in Vatuwaqa on Monday night remains in police custody.

Police spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said the post mortem for the 48-year-old mother Keshni Narayan, 28-year-old daughter Khusboo Narayan and 27-year-old Pramesh Narayan is expected to be conducted today.

According to Sokomuri this case is treated as suspicious as police will determine whether to lay any charges against the suspect following the post mortem results.

National Fire Authority Chief Executive Officer, John O’Connor said preliminary investigations indicate that there was a family argument on Monday afternoon which could have led to the fire.

O’Connor said NFA has handed over this case to police for further investigations.
