Man who allegedly brutally stabbed a man in Samabula during attempted robbery not produced in court

18-year-old Timoci Matanimeke who was charged for an attempted robbery and stabbing a man was expected to be produced in court this morning however, the matter was not called.

60-year-old Nitya Nand who was admitted at the CWM Hospital following the violent incident in Samabula on Christmas Eve, died on the 8th of January this year.

Police had confirmed that Matanimeke allegedly entered the Nand’s home and attempted to carry out a robbery and in the process used a knife to stab him.

It was understood that charges laid against Matanimeke would be amended following Nand’s death however, the matter was not called.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is yet to confirm why it was not called.
