A 60-year-old man has been sentenced to four years and eight months imprisonment for sexually assaulting and indecently assaulting his niece.
The man had unlawfully and indecently assaulted his 8-year-old niece on 16th October last year at Dilkusha Village.
Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne said the victim was at home because she was sick and the man came to her home pretending to relive her pain.
He adds the parents of the victim left him with their daughter trusting him as an elder and a relative but they were unaware that he was really a wolf in a sheep’s clothing.
The non-parole period of three years and seven months has been set.
